Oct. 15th, 2011 12:17 pmYou guys, I have decided, Dance Dance Revolution is the greatest invention OF ALL TIME. The only way I can deal with exercise is if I'm 1.) walking somewhere I actually need to go and can't use a car, 2.) hiking through attractive nature or visiting an attractive pedestrian-friendly city, or 3.) practicing some sort of skill, and the first two never happen unless I'm on vacation (or when I was in school). DDR is pretty much the only reason my heart rate gets above 60 these days. I'm pretty sure the cool kids have abandoned it, but me and my PS2 and my plastic dance mats are very happy together.
(Actually I also love swimming laps, using a snorkel to remove the unpleasant "constantly gasping for breath" aspect, but the only available pool in this neighborhood is so small, and so focused on families with kids, that the only time of day when more than two lap lanes are open is before 8 AM on weekdays, and I find sharing a lane extremely stressful, and it just doesn't work out. I really miss it, though. And I also like lifting weights but it requires a whole infrastructure and ugh, no.)
