I finally got Avisynth working, more or less, and I was able to open an .mkv file in VirtualDub but on closer inspection it was actually kind of crap, so I found another copy of the movie, this one an .mp4 and much nicer. But when I try to open that one with Avisynth in VirtualDub I get this:

"FFVideoSource: Insanity detected: decoder returned an empty frame"

What the actual fuck kind of error message is that. I mean COME ON. Is the mp4 the problem? Because let me tell you, I am not going to spend money on this terrible movie, I will use that weirdly pixelated mkv instead. But I won't be happy about it.

(I will post this query to an actual vidding comm where I am more likely to find assistance, I just...FUCKING COME ON. First I have to uninstall and reinstall Avisynth for no apparent reason and now this? whyyyyyyyy)

I started watching The Middleman, because I needed to not fall asleep in the middle of the afternoon because I always get paralyzingly irresistibly sleepy then but if I sleep during the day I get horribly sick and feel like I'm dying. It's pretty good! I can see immediately why it didn't last--this is praise--and I would watch the ten episodes remaining to me right now if I weren't sickly and too busy tomorrow to stay up too late.

--okay, question: what is up with the episode order? I downloaded DVD rips (although it's going on my shopping list now because it's awesome and I want to have it for vids), and they're numbered in a completely different order than the list on Wikipedia, which is in order of airdate. The weird thing is that the airing-order seems to make more sense, since I'm on supposedly episode three but it definitely seems to come before episode two in the order my files are in. Is this...a thing? That people know about? WHAT IS HAPPENING. I don't want to watch in the wrong order but I don't know which is the RIGHT order.

Oh my god, did The Middleman just make a glory hole joke? About a fourteen year old girl? ABC Family, I have underestimated you.

--okay, I have to call it quits. I don't even actually want to stay up and watch the last five episodes tonight, I'm way too tired and I have to do shit tomorrow, but I do really want to read porn about the Middleman for about an hour. I don't even know if there's an hour's worth of said porn on the internet, but I would like to find out. And I'm going to be so busy tomorrow and Tuesday, and then away for two weeks. Which is a good thing, of course, and I'll probably finish the last few episodes on the plane. But man, I have bad timing.

God, he just hits ALL my buttons. Well, all the ones he possibly can; there are several he's preemptively disqualified from for reasons of gender, body type, and/or narrative structure. But the rest, bang on.
