first stanza not so good, second stanza eh, third stanza good. in my estimation anyway, you are more than welcome to differ!

Galveston

Why do you come to the beach? Is it to see
The mats of seaweed barring you entry,
The jellyfish alert flags when you drive up,
Feet tangled in the net? What don't you know,
What don't you know tonight? Where are you now?

The strip along the seawall, ripe with motels,
With crab shacks, crayfish, t-shirt shops, with sand,
Withstands the pounding of the angry water
By virtue of the concrete where I sit
Watching the rolling tide as darkness falls

On lovers curled into each other's bodies
Like snails curl in the shell, and just as tender.
The bottles lying empty next to them
That filled them up. The sun is falling down,
Slowly, by inches, right before my eyes.
