Liveblogging as we go...
That is an interesting aesthetic choice for vampire teeth. Kind of like a circular suction mouth thing.
I was SO HORRIBLY embarrassment-squicked by the Doctor popping out of the cake that I had to skip forward, and only caught the end of that scene with "You're a lucky man, she's a great kisser." Did anything else happen? Also awwww, poor Rory, that was a very sweet phone call.
I find it interesting that the Doctor HAS seen TARDIS-traveling tear apart a relationship before. And that he's now actively concerned with preventing such.
Poor Rory is reacting to time travel like a basically normal person, and they're leaving him behind :( I find Amy and the Doctor's reaction to discovering the vampires kind of...icky. I mean, vampires! Those are walking dead girls! Who died! I really appreciated that Rory ran and checked on the girl they saw being attacked. Because he is a nurse! And he cares!
Oh, and I love so much Rory saying that he googled all the latest scientific research (on...what, exactly? never mind, it's good dialogue) after the Patient Zero thing. And the Doctor was quite unnecessarily sulky about that. I think it's a great reaction and one that indicates an interesting person, just as interesting as childlike wonder. --I swear, I adore Amy, I'm just really not fond of storylines where one character is made an outsider for being a regular person instead of super special sparkly. Hopefully the episode will improve on this front; they do seem to be aware of what they're doing.
Amy, volunteering to be vamp-bait goes beyond exciting/clever and into kind of dumb. I know she's always been kind of happy-go-lucky but she's never been dumb before. :/
And then "you can be my brother"--AMY. Come on. That's gratuitously mean. There is no way they can play this as her having the slightest real interest in Rory, now, and I really don't like the idea of her as just settling for him--much less getting married. I don't like what it says about either of them.
Awww, they both look so nice in their dress-up clothes. Amy's dress is quite lovely.
"I'm getting married in 430 years!"
Oh, I LIKE the touch of the psychic paper not working after the Doctor's spent so much of the episode waving it about.
See, I just...the Doctor and Rory bickering and being mutually jealous about Amy(in whatever sense, romantic or just affectionate)...is not the story I want. So no matter how well they do it, it's not going to make me happy. I just don't see why a character has to be either the hero(ine) or a loser. It's one of the things that bugged me most about Rusty's tenure--that if you're not the Doctor or his companion, you should just sit down and shut up because you're not worth anything(except possibly as a noble sacrifice). It ruins characters I like, and ruins characters I could potentially like.
What does Amy say there? "Okay. I'll tell you. ...I'm from ---" I can't make it out.
WHOA GIANT ROBOT FISH LADY THIS EPISODE JUST GOT 10000X BETTER
The Doctor getting electrocuted and sliding down the stairs was very...pretty. *g*
"Think of the children." I HAVE NEVER LOVED ELEVEN MORE than in this scene. The way he SITS, it's just...magical. I love how his quiet disgust just grows more and more present, but never louder. Just more visible.
Okay, I burst out laughing when Rory covered the Venetian guy's mouth.
"I mean I've been around a bit, but really that's, that's...eeugh."
FISH GO BOOM \o/
--is that a wee little vampire fish gargoyle? IT IS. :DDD
I do not like the Doctor ordering Amy around. It's been a rather crap episode on the Doctor-and-Amy relationship front, really.
Oh, see, this I like. Rory doesn't have to be successful, I just want to see him TRY. And be brave. :D
Awww, kissing. I...have absolutely no idea where this leaves them, because I would have sworn Amy had zero interest in him based on her behavior THIS ENTIRE EPISODE. So, you know. WHAT. But at least there was kissing!
Heh. The Doctor's annoyance is delightfully real. "If one of you gets squashed or blown up or eaten..."
I do like Rosanna(?) getting just a touch of humanity at the end there.
OH THE END. THE END, THAT IS WHAT I WANTED. This whole episode, that's what I wanted, and now I forgive it. I wanted three people, all differently awesome, and the Doctor who wants people to be their best awesome selves. Okay, I forgive the episode because it clearly knew where it was going. Possibly this all could have been solved by trusting the show, but it's going to be a long time before I can do that again. Also, they're her boys :D
One word on the preview--I love, love, love the Doctor saying "This is going to be a tricky one," and then SMILING. Smiling his perfect Eleven smile.

I thought that bit reinforced what the Doctor told Rory, that if he had been in Amy's bedroom at the end of last episode she would have kissed him. Alternately, there is going to be some terrible, horrific plot point later in the season based on Amy getting turned on in the aftermath of danger...
And YES on the ending! Yay!

THE ENDING WAS SO AWESOME. :D :D :D
