fyi i have uploaded my perfume spreadsheet (the list of what i have is current but the rest is not bc the real spreadsheet lives on my computer) so please feel free to recommend what i should try. on the docket for tomorrow (i was gonna try them tonight but it turns out hermetica darkoud lasts FOREVER on me, which is good since i love it) is the "masculine lavender" sampler from surrender to chance, and if those are all gone when i'm done with work i will do the "aromatic fougere" sampler.

others i will try soon:
  • Frederic Malle, Lys Mediterranee
  • Papillon, Spell 125
  • Hermes, Terre D'Hermes
  • Robert Piguet, Fracas (the modern one)
  • Flowerbomb and Black Opium bc i want to see if i still hate them
  • all my BPAL imps (Chaotic, Cleric, Druid, Gnome, Half-Elf, and for some reason also Lust) bc i want to see if i still mostly dislike them

and i welcome other suggestions...my collection so far is like 80% random samples i got from sephora or mixed lots on ebay, and i want to try Everything except sweet food scents, which are super gross to me. if it smells like a cupcake i want NO part of it. but i want to try everything Else, and honestly i like p much everything else so far?? favorite general families so far are florals, oud, and green/herbal/woodsy scents. also i tried one (Rain Day) that was nicely green for a couple hours and then suddenly morphed into smelling EXACTLY like the beach and it was so delightfully strange. like not just the ocean but A Day At The Beach. sand, sunscreen, ocean, seaweed, sun, seagulls, etc., absolutely wild

This one?

Gris Clair is awesome (all opinions strictly IMHO, btw; one of the things I enoy about perfume is that no objectively "right" or "wrong" us even possible).

Papillon, Spell 125

I will be very interested to get a report on this one! I was impressed by Salome, and the description of this sounds fascinating.

I went thru a perfume phase last summer, and discovered the Fragrantica website, which tells me the Notes (though it's never been clear to me whether those are what the perfumers did on purpose or just what the wearers said they smelled). It's been fascinating to read the comments and see how one person can say "I'm getting green notes under a powdery opener" and another one can say "just a face full of bergamot here."

(Fwiw, my old reliable is Fresh Life and my favorite new discovery is Jo Malone's English Pear and Freesia. But if your dislike of food notes includes citrus or pears, you might not enjoy those.)

That is some spreadsheet! Most of what I have is BPAL, heh, but I love Hexennacht and like Demeter a lot.

CB I Hate Perfume is very fun but his (black?) tea note is VERY strong on me. I like it, but it kind of drowns anything else out.

I might have to explore that further -- I love a good strong black tea note. Which scents do you find it especially notable in?

Aww most of my stuff is BPAL! I was loving a limited (and now completely out of stock, sob) number from Hexennacht called the Haunted Tea-Cosy, but that might have been too sweet....in BPAL, Alice and White Rabbit are milky sweet black tea, Dorian is also sweet tea, and there was a seasonal called Tonka Bean, Black Tea & Vetiver that sounded delicious. Theodosius is supposed to be Earl Grey tea. Hmmm, it seems like she does a lot of green tea, and if there's black tea in a scent it is seasonal a lot of the time! :-/ I had a decant of October 32, "The scent of Eternal October: leaves fluttering against a thick wool sweater, the cool amber glow of an autumn sunset, dollops of thick cream swirling in black tea," and I don't think she does many just black tea scents. Altho she did do straight up black coffee once!

CBIHP has Tea/Rose, not tearose but tea + rose, which sounds neat, and Cedarwood Tea, and....omg, Russian Caravan Tea. Fragrantica says it's citrusy tho. https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/CB-I-Hate-Perfume/Russian-Caravan-Tea-8649.html

Commodity - their Mimosa is "my" signature, I even bought the big ole 100ml but they have a bunch of really neat woodsy type fragrances you might find interesting!

I still dream of one of the Jo Malone tea fragrances I had a sample of but I can't remember which one it was... it was so good though.
