OH I thought of something. I've been reading Jincy Willett's Jenny and the Jaws of Life and "Justine Laughs at Death" is my new favorite short story. (Content note: serial killers and therefore rape/torture/murder, but it's not hugely detailed.) It's just the best story about serial killers I've ever read, highly recommended. (I think you might like it if you don't like stories about serial killers; it's about as far from reveling in violence against women as you can get. And it's extremely satisfying for someone who has consumed acres of mainstream serial killer stories with increasing discontent.)
