I went and watched some Criminal Minds to soothe my Prentiss needs, and then I watched some more because it is perfect comfort food, and as always I have emerged longing for fic that mostly doesn't exist. What was with that fandom?? I mean, racism, obviously, as far as the lack of Morgan fic, but there is no explanation for why no JJ/Garcia or Reid/Prentiss or Hotch/Gideon or Rossi (okay I guess there's an explanation for those two, some people involved have actual face wrinkles and receding hairlines so god forbid they do makeouts), four pairings with ridiculous chemistry and three of them even have canonical extra-intense emotional bonds. And yet >:( I do understand why there was so much Prentiss femslash (well, 'so much' relatively), because she reads so super queer I can't even, but none of it was any good so it is no use to me.

I can't go looking for new stuff, either, because I refuse and abjure everything after season four, except a few parts of 5x02 that appeal to me, and you can probably guess which parts. This is a pity because I've read some summaries, and I can see where good fic might arise, but I'm just not going to watch that level of nonsense. Actually even if it was good I probably wouldn't watch it, because since 2009 I've lost almost all my capacity for watching women get brutalized in TV and movies. Which sounds really judgmental of everyone else, but I was fine with it then and it's not a moral thing--at least not more than it ever was when I didn't mind so much--it's more like a sudden allergy; I just can't anymore. I've been alt-forward-arrowing liberally through this whole rewatch.

I did get my Prentiss fix, though! I watched 3x02 on a rec that it had good Prentiss, which it did, and then I kept going and I'd forgotten how amazing she is in 3x04, plus she has a great moment with Reid in the otherwise awful 3x03 (which is the one where people are murdered by their phobias and is sensationalist crap). Ugghhh I just want to marry her so MUCH. Oh, and then I watched a season five episode I'd never seen because I was also told it had good Prentiss, and it did, but it also guest starred Lee Tergesen as a stubbly just-released ex-convict, and as you may imagine, after a month and a half of Oz obsession that was kind of a mindfuck.

Okay, I am going to spend some quality time with my favorite old CM badfic. It's the next best thing to good fic! Maybe there will be ~significant flowers~, I love when that happens.

Have you ever heard Paget Brewster do comedy? my heart swelled too large for my chest cavity once I saw her perform on stage for the Thrilling Adventure Hour. I love me Prentiss, but good lord that woman has some fabulous comedy chops.

omg last year I was like 12 feet away from her. she is the epitome of Incredible.

Thrilling Adventure Hour podcasts-- they're free. She's featured heavily in the "Beyond Belief" features. But overall the whole show is amazing. It's a fake old-timey radio show, complete with parody jingonostic radio commercials, sci-fi heroes, western sheriffs on mars and, oh god. it's just so SO MUCH FUN. with guest stars and everything. I also saw Allison Brie perform TAH in San Francisco one year, she played a villiness called Lady Haiku and only spoke in Haikus and wore a tight black leotard a la beatnik poets and it was so good, so so good.

there was even a giant kickstarter project too to get a concert dvd made with behind the scenes stuff, an animated show and other goodies and she did a few bits to promote that for the kickstarter. here and here SO CUTE.

here's paget and paul f tompkins singing a bit from beyond belief called here's to us (they are two high class socialites who deal with supernatural things that happen to them). amazing.

{{}} I haven't listened to any of the shows from the last six months, but I can tell you from past experience that it is very consistent writing quality and shenanigans. and various stars come by and guest on stage, too. Nathan Fillion, Neil Patrick Harris. People rotate in and out. it's a lot of fun. ♥ I hope you find some goodies in the podcasts that you can enjoy.
