some_stars | (no subject)

Okay, I definitely did not mean to stay up past midnight watching more of The LA Complex. I'm now halfway through the second season and...hmm. I still can't really rec it, and most of the bad stuff has gotten worse plus it's developed whole new problems. But I can't make myself stop watching, so clearly it's got something going on. Most of the characters are boring and offputting, but the ones that aren't are just so ridiculously watchable. Actually the watchable ones are pretty offputting too, but only as people, not as characters. This show is so ridiculous. I am definitely not going to stay up and watch the last six episodes. ...I mean I really am not, because I have to be at the museum at 10 tomorrow morning and I can no longer go without sleep as I did ten years ago. But I WANT to.

Also, if anyone does want to watch this show and hasn't yet, I feel I should note that if it were a fic it would need SO MANY warnings, and I am happy to provide them if you want.

I always want to punch Connor in the fucking face.

He is pretty awful! But I don't mind watching him, after the first few episodes, because at least the show acknowledges that he is a hideous mess (also his particular brand of hideous mess hits some buttons for me, despite all the white manpain, so my judgment is poor). Whereas the show LOVES Nick, so I can't even watch his scenes because he's just going to keep getting rewarded and never ever ever called on his behavior, and he will keep being portrayed as the struggling victim of bad women, and there will never be any narrative indication that it's HORRIFYING.
