I am reading 172 Hours on the Moon--thanks to [personal profile] sohotrightnow for the rec--and it is SO GOOD. (I'm only 90 pages in so no spoilers, please.) I want all the YA horror now. Not supernatural fantasy--which, there is nothing wrong with that at all; if I ever finish my current novel the next one will probably be about teenage lady shapeshifters of some kind--but I want actual horror, terrible things that feel wrong and are not sexy or alluring or the POV characters.

I currently have five (5) books out from the library, and am reading pretty slowly, and I have more to get to after that--but if you know any YA books that suit this description, I would welcome recs? Or else just go read this book yourself, it's pretty great.

YESSSSSSS AGREED, OH MY GOD. I mean, especially with your final conclusion that it falls apart at the end, unfortunately, agreed there too, but YES MORE YA HORROR, ALL OF THE YA HORROR, ALL OF IT. Especially cosmic horror, because really, how appropriate is "horrible things are happening and you do not understand them no matter how hard you try" for teenagers? I mean, for everyone, really, but especially teenagers.
