I think I need to get another tattoo. It can't go on my back; that's reserved for me to spend the next fifty years filling it up with text, and no more suitably perfect lines have occurred to me yet. And it can't go on my forearms because I will be trying to get jobs as an elementary school teacher in a few years and would rather not wear long sleeves all the time. Sadly this ruins the idea I wanted most--a detailed, anatomy-book style drawing of an armbone, up my inner forearm. I think the top of the thigh would be fun--reasonably solid, a big canvas, easy to reach when doing aftercare. Calves are also open, and the top halves of my upper arms. --actually now that I think about it, what I really want is something that starts on the front of my thigh, then winds down the outside of my knee and around my lower leg.
The main question, of course, is what do I want to get? This is somewhat more difficult. There was a point in 2004 when I wanted to get a tattoo of the old DC logo--the circle with stars--and you can imagine how I'd feel about that now. It doesn't have to be ~forever meaningful,~ just not something I'll actively regret having on my body later. Mostly I just want something to help me get through this next year.
--also let's be honest, it's a real good thing I've got boobs or else I would be out right now getting myself an arc reactor tattoo. I'm never actually kidding when I call Tony Stark my spirit animal.

Other things I'm planning:
Diagram of tall ship rigging
Fouled anchor on my wrist (but I'm not letting myself get that until I've sailed across the Atlantic)
Something circuit-board-y.

OMG WANT
I don't have one. Not a drop of ink. But I have been saying for years what I really want is this http://englishhistory.net/keats/images/odetoanightingale4.jpg on my back. It would be like my Sistene Ceiling. But I have (TMI) so many moles and skin tags I dunno if it would work? Anyway. For years I also wanted an ankh, a little one, on my ankle or somewhere. Maybe one of those tiny dragons that looks wrought-iron -- a silhouette. The first line of Jane Eyre? A very small black cat? Those lines of I think Sanskrit about how the soul is never born and never dies? Or -
YOU SEE WHERE THIS IS GOING

As for what, how about something involving old-school Iron Man art, or in that style?
Tattoos that I'm planning:
- when I complete a marathon, I'll want a little running shoe on my right ankle
- when I graduate therapy (I don't know when that will be, but I am now confident that it will happen) I'll get Mr Toad from The Wind in the Willows, from the E.H. Shepard illustrations, for Reasons.

I don't know if it's the best idea to celebrate Tony Stark being my spirit animal, though. Given that my favorite endearment for him is "you fucking human wreck <3333". ...I do really love old-school comics art, though.
