Do you ever have that moment where you go back and read something you wrote ten years ago and haven't looked at since, and it's actually really good? Of course being me I have managed to turn this into a way to feel bad about myself, but I'm still surprised. I mean, I've read other stuff I wrote when I was seventeen, and it was all exactly as embarrassing as I remembered. I have no idea where this story came from. Or went; I wish I could write original prose like that now. Probably it was that I wasn't yet self-conscious enough to stifle myself.
