This day at the beach was SO CLOSE to being a flawless relaxation adventure, except apparently I am the actual worst at applying sunscreen, and now I'm burned over two huge chunks of my back and arms. It hurts all the time and especially when I move. The exciting part is that I have to wear work clothes for nine hours tomorrow! And also it's just making me literally sick. Like, I forgot sunburn does that, but a couple hours after getting home I went from "unreasonably tired" to "suddenly and entirely nauseous" and had to lie very, very still for about half an hour until it went away. I still kind of feel like my brain is in space.

- take an anti-inflammatory as often as you can if burn hurts.
- if burn is still hot to the touch put vinegar on it. washcloth soaked in vinegar is what we use at our house. the vinegar prevents the burn from going deeper.
- aloe! aloe keeps things moist and has anti-inflammatory properties. if you don't have an aloe plant commercial after-sun products are okay.
- moisturize. i have a giant tub of coca-butter lotion i picked up for cheap years ago. it works great to limit the peeling.
- drink lots of fluids. often sunburns are accompanied by dehydration.
