(no subject)

sooo it's not like I wasn't already in the middle of three different TV shows and several more fandoms besides AND multiple vids and a fic in progress, but: I've started watching Community! By which I mean I am paused five minutes into the pilot. Fandom osmosis has made me aware that this show is at first under the mistaken impression that the main character is this jerkass boring guy with a privilege trifecta and stupid hair, so I know I have to wait a few episodes for the actual stars to emerge. But my main observation so far is: wow, Abed is SO MUCH HOTTER in motion than in pictures. I had absolutely no idea I'd find him for real sexy and gorgeous and so forth. But I DO.

bounce bounce bounce! I am so excited that you're watching Community (you are absolutely right about the show getting better - even just by 1x03! I challenge anyone to watch 1x03 and not adore it). And I'm so excited that you agree with me about Abed's compelling form of hotness! He is so gorgeous!

I'm a few more minutes in and--are they actually trying to make me hate Jeff? Is this some kind of weird and very expensive psychological experiment? I hate him so much. And it's only been eleven minutes!

But Abed is scary hot, wow. Like, in pictures, like in your icon, I kind of just see all the bones in his face, but then in video form I can't tear my eyes away from him.

--OMG, Abed just did the monologue from The Breakfast Club, and he was so natural and just slid physically into the role and his voice was totally confident. It's so eerie and awesome to watch someone play a character who's a great actor.

YES I KNOW IT IS BIZARRE. Actually I watched the Community pilot when it came out, and hated Jeff and how the narrative privileges him SO MUCH that I determined not to watch the show ever again. And I didn't, until it was halfway through the second season, when I started again, and realised that the pilot is not representative of the show. The show DOES have a lot more interest than I do in "Jeff, who is an asshole, learns how to love," which, I could care less, but the other characters are amazing, so. Stick with it! 1x03 or bust!

Aw, Abed's monologue! Man, there is SO MUCH amazing Abed roleplay and acting that you have to look forward to; I cannot even deal.

I have now watched the first five episodes! And omg, 1x03 was--it was like this completely other show, one that was all about how this is Abed's story, and Jeff and Britta think they can come in and understand it--and-him--and participate in it on their own terms, but they can't--it's about him and his life, and they become objects in his drama, not the other way around. ALSO I CRIED.

Also also, I want Shirley to be my lady. And I love Troy. That is my take on this show so far.

Danny Pudi has spectacular kinetic energy during improv shows, too. Seeing him two years in a row had been a huge comedy highlight for me!
