Festivids recs
I'm mostly only watching vids for sources I'm familiar with, so this is pretty limited. But these are my favorites so far, aside from my wonderful magical Mulan vids which obviously are the best of the bunch.
Another Girl, Another Planet, Doctor Who
ACE. ACE ACE ACE. This is the upbeat squee-inducing surprisingly thoughtful Ace vid of my HEART.
Practically Perfect, Doctor Who
AND NYSSA. You guys, I have such love for Nyssa, even though the show usually didn't let her be her full amount of awesome. But she deserves a lot more love than she gets, and I am SO HAPPY to see a Nyssa vid. Plus it's just an adorable fun vid.
Baby I'm A Star, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Yeah, so, Carlton dancing = best vid material of all time. It logically follows that this is the best vid.
Doomsday, Independence Day
Of the two Independence Day vids, this is the AW FUCK YEAH epic epic summer blockbuster version that makes me wish I had a bigger screen and better sound system...
4th of July, Independence Day
...and this is the one about FEELINGS and PEOPLE, which gets at the real reason I love this movie so much even though it is, objectively, kind of enormously stupid. I like lots of stupid action movies but most of them couldn't support this kind of vid. Independence Day, however contains all the feelings, as does this vid.
Extraordinary, LXD (Legion of Extraordinary Dancers)
I have actually not seen LXD yet, despite meaning to for an entire year. But holy shit, now I really want to see it. This vid is just awesome.
Outside the Box, Maru the Cat
Maru + U2, I cannot even say more.
Papa's Got a Brand New Bag, Maru the Cat
Maru + JAMES BROWN. Cannot even.
Poor, Poor, Pitiful Me, MythBusters
I don't actually watch the show, but this is a vid about the deeply put-upon crash test dummy, so I think most of the beautiful hilarity is coming through anyway. God, there were so many brilliantly perfect song choices this year.
Better Smeg Than Dead, Red Dwarf
LIKE THIS. Which is to the Friends theme song. If this does not immediately start you nodding your head and saying OMG YES, you have problems. Luckily they can be fixed by watching the vid.
Feeling Good, Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Shiiiiit. This is...okay, whatever, summaries. Watch this. Even if you didn't see the movie (I didn't). It is brilliant.
Livin' On A Prayer, Rocky series
Another mind-blowingly perfect song choice! And the vid lives up to it completely.
Tom Cruise Crazy, Singin' in the Rain
SO ADORABLE. Guys, I'm running out of summarizing, I'm just going to skip the next one entirely but I promise it's fantastic.
Passionate Kisses, While You Were Sleeping
