Well, Kings got better and better and then completely collapsed. Way to ruin your most compelling character, guys! I don't know if I'm even going to finish the last episode, I'm so disappointed. (Edit: I read a detailed synopsis and jesus CHRIST, no I'm not watching that. See below re the constant humiliation, creepy fetishized overtones thereof.) To say nothing of how having Jack actually choose evil, rather than be conflicted and fucked up and interesting, changes the homophobia from a background structural thing to front and center offensive. I mean, obviously the decision to change the story of David and Jonathan to Jack being gay and ambiguous and weasely and power-hungry while David is golden and perfect and straight with no personal ambition (and they have no significant friendship or relationship to speak of) is problematic in itself, but Jack was such a good character who really made sense, and seemed to be getting respectful, thoughtful development, so it didn't bother me nearly as much as it might have. But I've had more than enough of seeing him humiliated over and over--to the point where it almost seems fetishistic--not allowed to be competent or even active, and then twisted back into Weak Evil for no meaningful reason.

And the rest of the show--sexist and racist, careless worldbuilding to the point of incomprehensibility--it was improving, a lot (not in the sexism/racism areas, but the stories were becoming less "wait, what, why", and David was becoming much more interesting, and Rose was continuing to be magical), and then everything just turned into failure. Well, I know where it goes AU in my head and I might even write fic, because apparently I can only do that anymore for things that piss me off.
