Whyyyy do I only ever get the urge to write original fiction when I have EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE WORLD to do first? Or rather, I always have the urge, but rarely in a form (and accompanied by ideas) that might actually result in writing. This time around it's the same idea I had last September, but with a crucial added plot element that makes it more of a plot and less of a series of depressing incidents with occasional but rarely plot-critical use of magic. (This is the sort of ridiculous shit I come up with when trying to be original. "Okay, so she has these rare and powerful magical abilities that she uses in the first chapter, and then the rest of the book is about politics! And then she uses them once more, to escape without actually defeating her enemies, and goes back home. THE END." That is definitely a story that has not been told before, you have to give me that. Probably.)
I know that if I could write this, it would be at the very least a good book, and much better than plenty of other, published books. But I can't write it now, I have crap to do. And when I don't, the anxiety will overtake the writing urge again and it'll be hopeless until the next time I'm busy. Art is torment :(
...ALSO I just realized that if I want to write a book where one of the main characters is a military officer in a naval empire, I will probably have to learn something about boats. I FEAR BOATS. :( :( :(

Boats are SCARY because there's so much endless detailed crap involved that you can get wrong, and a small but vocal segment of readers know a LOT about boats and are really intense about this knowledge.
