North Carolina status report: totally awesome. The weather is so brilliantly October and I was out in it plenty today when we went to the state fair. I managed to eat almost all the food items on my to-eat list, and went on a ride, and saw the champion prize winning steer, which is selling for $25,000. So I feel like it was a successful trip. I also bought a really attractive leather wrist cuff which I plan to wear always, so that I can sniff it whenever I need a leather hit.

Tomorrow evening I fly back, then Saturday is the busiest day ever with heavy trash day early in the morning, then a performance with my queer ladies' chorus (for which I need to practice a couple hours Friday night as they didn't leave enough time to actually teach the new people the songs), then hopefully stay for some more of the festival we're performing at, then that night the first party of my post college life, which I am trying not to stress about. Mostly I'm wondering if it's a Done Thing to bring some alcohol, like a potluck, or if that's only in college when nobody has any money.

Unless you were specifically told it was a potluck, you should be fine showing up empty-handed; but unless it's a very formal dinner party, with actual wine pairings, you should also be fine bringing a bottle of wine or a six-pack of some decent-to-nice beer. Either one.

Oh! You are in my area. Welcome and I'm glad you're liking it!

Did you stay long enough at the fair to see the fireworks (they start at 9:45)? I saw them yesterday -- not from within the fairgrounds (not going this year, but I miss it!) but from the top floor of the university library.

The weather is SO GOOD, yessss.
