that would be a trust triangle

You know, in fandom these days I often go a really long time without encountering slash--in canon, that is. Of course I run into pairings I ship, several of them even with a decent canon basis for extrapolation, and I also, wonderfully, run into more and more canon queer couples. But somehow, the fandoms I tend to find myself in frequently don't have two same-sex, ostensibly heterosexual characters whom I not only want to see together and think would work well together, but feel like I could write lengthy explanatory meta with transcripts and screencaps about why they make more sense together than not, and why their subtext is in fact objectively true. So when I do run into something that slashy, it kind of bends my brain a little bit and I have to run around flapping my hands and squealing for a while, until it's out of my system and/or I find some fic. I'm just not used to taking my cues from the text itself to this extent! It's very disorienting! I feel like I'm seventeen and tinhatting again!

In possibly related news, still working on that Psych rewatch, just finished 4x11. Yep.
