1. Comment with any ship (or relationship of any sort, romantic, sexual, or otherwise!) from a fandom that you know I have some knowledge about (if it's a fandom I only know by osmosis, this could be hilarious).

2. I will rant about aforementioned ship. This may be incoherent gushing or exclamations of disgust or evocations of apathy, depending on what it is.

Fandoms I have some knowledge about: there's a long but incomplete list in my profile, and if it's from a really big fandom in the last five years I probably at least sort of know about it a little bit.

RONON/RODNEY.

(I ... what? Don't look at me like that.)

THE GREATEST THING. Oh man, I still sometimes am SO TEMPTED to go back and watch S3-5 of SGA, despite knowing it would fill me with towering rage, because RONON. RONON, THE BEST. And Rodney would be his ideal partner, and vice versa--they're perfect for each other. They contrast in some ways, stimulate (not like that, or not only like that) each other and push each other and entertain each other, but they're also similar in other ways, and they just--they would really enjoy each other. It would be one of those relationships that's best friends, and then sex, and then love. Not less love, exactly, but not a big Romance, you know? They would just make each other happy, and their friends would like them both more after they got together, and--IT WOULD BE BEAUTIFUL. The end.

(also of course it would be a very meaningful and touching testament to the power of shared Jewish faith to keep a gay space marriage going strong.)

fuck, now I really want to read some long-ish plotty Ronon/Rodney fic where they start a FWB thing and then one of them is imperiled and the other has to rescue him and there's public displays of love and concern, but in in-character non-soppy ways, and lots of jokes and some slightly awkward but heartfelt cuddling. And a bris.

Superman/Batman, any versions? :D?

Oh they're so great! I was never into them like, as a pairing to read fic about, mostly, but I super dug them whenever they were all shippy in the comics and cartoons. WHICH WAS ALL THE TIME. I think my favorite thing about them is how Superman is always so totally blase about Batman being fucking crazy. Bruce is his friend! He's got his quirks, who doesn't, but he's really a great guy! Which would usually be the kind of attitude that would ensure Batman would never actually be your friend, but Superman isn't stupid about it or naive, he's just...Batman's friend. Batman's cheerful, terrifyingly powerful friend. They don't necessarily understand each other on the whole, but they understand certain crucial things about each other that almost nobody else in the world does.

eeee, yes! I'd never quite put a finger on that, but it's that understanding of crucial and unique things that really sells me on their friendship, even for versions where it's a rocky friendship. (I dug the post-Crisis reboot and always liked the way they ended up after that!)

Yeah--I really loved how it wasn't the kind of pairing where I'm all "omg, they GET each other" because that implies that they don't have the huge glaring blind spots about each other that they do have--but their blind spots, and the things they do see and really get, are different from what most anyone else sees and doesn't see about them. And they know that's what they are to each other, and they need it. WORLD'S FINEST.

Harry/Ron/Hermione. Sexual or friendship, your choice.

Well, I love teamfic, and I love threesomes, and I love friendship ships, so...yeah. FOND. I actually never read hardly any fic, because my HP fic reading was always weirdly disconnected from my HP book reading, and then when I picked the fandom back up again after OOTP came out I didn't read much fic at all. But I always loved the idea, at least emotionally (most porn about the kid characters with each other does nothing for me; it's not an underage squick because I like when they're paired with adults, it's just that it's them). I love ships that are about people who were thrown together, have been through everything together, and now know each other better than anyone else ever could. Also I found them all pretty hilarious together in the books and love seeing more of that; the exception to my no-sex rule was a couple fics I can't remember now that were just COMEDY THREESOME LULZ.

Kirk/Spock!

You know, bizarrely, I don't recall having many particularly strong feelings about them when I watched TOS? I liked the pairing, and I loved watching their scenes together, but I mostly didn't come away wanting fic or thinking about possible scenarios for more-than-canon adventures. I did really love them on the show, though; I really like friendship pairings. I mean, I love bickery tense friendship pairings too--most of my shipping energy while watching TOS was directed toward McCoy/Spock(/Kirk), or teamfic--but there's something very satisfying and these days a little rare about a pairing of two people who are just extremely close friends and like each other's company and admire each other and are completely comfortable around each other. It doesn't make me want porn so much, but it's excellent emotional porn.
