ugghhh vidding. I was feeling pretty great about having pulled ALL THE CLIPS for First Class and X1, and then I realized I still have to do X2 and X3, and X2 is so long. Also my ideas are not quite as developed as I thought, and I'm going to be working with about 700 clips for each of these two vids and just scrolling through them is going to be a nightmare, let alone choosing among them. Also I'm going to have to re-pull all those XMFC clips when the DVD comes out--well, not all of them, but the idea still fills me with a deep sense of nooooooooooooooooooo.

Also, given that I spent eight hours today working on this, I don't know why I feel so guilty for not being in Premiere NOW RIGHT NOW doing some more. Well, I sort of do, it's because I made a deal with myself that I didn't have to think about any of the dozen or more things I desperately need to get done for my actual life as long as I was vidding (or writing, in theory, not likely) and not just sitting around being a failure. WHY IS MY BRAIN SO MESSED UP.

The stuff I have so far is pretty great, it's just that there are these loooong instrumental sections and I thought I had them figured out, and I guess I do in very broad strokes, but actually narrowing that down to 'what clips go where' is proving to be...difficult. Oh well, I will figure it out tomorrow when my brain hurts slightly less, right now is distracting-myself-from-angst-and-self-loathing-with-hours-of-fanfic time.

boooooo to vidding angst! it is very unfair that we have to do all the "clipping" and "figuring out what goes where" bits . . . why can't I just magically arrive at the part where I fit things into the timeline and the vid happens?

I dunno what your process is like, but if it helps at all, I can tell you my process for dealing with a giant database of footage and not knowing what goes where. I usually type out all the lyrics and print them out, then play all the clips I've clipped one after another in quicktime while listening to the song on repeat; quite often I get lots of ideas for "what specifically goes where" just by listening to the song a billion times and rewatching all the footage I've pulled out. Then I jot the ideas down on the lyrics sheet to avoid forgettage. That is my suggestion!
