and in other news
...that really seemed like maybe it should be in a separate entry: my Jewish Study Bible had arrived when I got back from yoga, and I have yet to examine the substance of it but, well, this is from the very first paragraph of the very first page: "The love is the impetus for the study; the study is the expression of the love."
You guys, it is so fortunate I was born Jewish because no other religion could ever make me feel these FEELINGS I AM FEELING. Except possibly becoming a Jesuit, which I am given to understand ladies can't do anyway. And if alternate not-Jew me was anything like real me, she would never have gotten around to actually converting. So really it's best for everyone this way.
I really need an appropriate icon for this stuff, there's almost certainly going to be more of it in coming weeks. (I...may not have mentioned this yet? I can't remember, but I've started going to weekly services at the Reform synagogue near my house, and I'll be taking a "Jew 101" class there in the fall (they don't call it that) and also hopefully relearning Hebrew and then, IDK. But it's turning out to be kind of addictive.) In the meantime, I will use the least appropriate icon possible.
(Also I don't really do filters, but anything extensive or really intensely religious or whatever will go behind cuts, of course, to spare the quite reasonably uninterested.)
