marina has written an excellent and
useful post on
writing about the Holocaust in XM:FC fanfic. I agree with basically all of it, especially the first item: vagueness is your FRIEND. God knows that's the approach I plan to take. (Yesterday's post's request for more research is aimed at people who insist on writing or talking about specific aspects/details and keep getting them
wrong. I personally plan to do absolutely no further research into genocide and torture and to write nothing that would require it.) (Although I do hope people at least get themselves a general awareness of history and what Erik's life would have been like
up to 1944, cf
marina's second point. I will stop here before I end up ineptly recapping her entire post.)
Didn't I swear when I turned in that final paper and graduated that I would now
stop thinking about the Holocaust? Why does that plan never work out for me?
