I'm probably going to be posting some semi-coherent fic recs soon, but right now, this (spoilers obviously) is the most wonderful thing I've yet read about X-Men: First Class. THE MOST WONDERFUL.

From what I remember from reading an article about the costuming, it's just the yellow bits that are meant to be bullet-proof. (They originally used Kevlar but it turned brown when cut.)

Although they didn't exactly communicate that in the film.

In defense of poor bb Hank, maybe the angle of incidence made a difference? From what I understand of bulletproofing, many are laminated; a bullet coming in at an angle that slips "between" the layers can much more easily penetrate the material, and Charles was shot from the side.

Besides, the poor thing already paid for his mistakes in blue fur.

(All that babbled, oh, I laughed like a drain upon reading this.)
