teaching is going pretty okay! some groups finished their novel and some are still working on it but we had to pause to do standardized test prep, since that's happening in a week and a half. after the test is over we're going to do creative writing projects, and then the rest of the year is just whatever we want, basically. officially i don't have to go past may 3 but i probably will, because i have nothing else to do and i like it. also we'll be losing the tutor and i'd feel bad abruptly dropping my mentor teacher down to one adult in the room after a semester of small groups. definitely gonna take a day off to go to the beach though, with a gulf coast beach you gotta go early before the water gets warm. also, yesterday i brought my copies of the new re-released with original illustrations scary stories to tell in the dark, and all three volumes INSTANTLY got borrowed. kids fucking love those things.
i'm one episode behind on the magicians bc watching new tv stresses me out, but i probably will watch it today because i have nothing else to do, since my students are testing so i didn't go in. (it's the "mock" STAAR test that they do before the real one, which is a TERRIBLE idea bc it's multiple five hour tests and wears them the fuck out, but whatever, day off.) i'm in a very tense place with wondering if this show will let me down and/or kill half of my otp, but i'm sticking with it and attempting to have faith. it's never gonna wholly give me what i want bc tv these days is allergic to letting characters rest ever (which i do think is a major flaw and hopefully one day the pendulum will swing), but i'm hoping they'll come through on the basic level of "let them get together and show as much of it as we did of the straight couples" at least.
i recently got very into lipstick, which who knows how long this obsession will last, but i now have nine of them and they weren't all cheap either. (although some were--protip, wet n wild perfect pout is weirdly high quality and also four dollars.) if you follow my twitter you can see a bunch of awkward lipstick selfies and follow the saga of me trying to figure out how to apply liquid lipstick in a way that doesn't look like a drunk clown did it. (hard mode: no brushes, bc i'm morally opposed to having to clean them, and no concealer, bc i don't want to buy any.)
