I thought I would watch a couple Festivids tonight--like, it would be fun, and fannish, and take less than fifteen minutes, which since I am ALREADY behind on everything for school would be a plus. So I started with this awesome and so sweet Young Americans vid, despite never having seen the show. And then SOMEHOW I ended up on Youtube watching a series of vids someone made compiling all the scenes involving the cross-dressing romance plot. Which took over an hour, which is significantly more than fifteen minutes. The internet, you guys, it makes my life so hard.

(but so good because omg, adorable--and HOT--tiny butch girl, and wee baby Ian Somerhalder, and vintage WB camerawork and line delivery and casting of interchangeable stocky blond boys. I MISS THE WB SO MUCH Y'ALL.)

Yes, the skinny butch girl and her boyfriend - who rides on the BACK of the motorcycle? *g* I kind of want them to roadtrip everywhere and do awesome stuff. It wouldn't be great television, but it would be very 'AWWWW.'

YES. She was FINE with the clothes and the attitude, it was the lying that got to her. And I thought that if she could do it without LYING or HIDING that she would be really happy.

Meanwhile her boyfriend, who was rather precious (but well adjusted for saying 'well, if I am gay, then I'd better own it) was charming and I wanted to ruffle his hair.

Oh yes, I agree. Precious and stupid and sweet.

Youtube makes fleeting fandom committment possible.
