OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. another hard drive crash: EXACTLY what I needed right now. It's the least important one, but it's also the only one I don't have a backup of yet. And it contains all my video porn, so I'm kind of...not happy with the idea of taking it in for data recovery. It also contains a shitload of music, and a huge amount of Classic Who that I can redownload but will take absolute ages. And...I don't know, there might be other stuff, I wouldn't KNOW. The whole thing is 100% my mom's fault, too; she walked past my bedroom this morning to warn my dad that he should shut his computer off because our power was about to go out temporarily, then walked back past me and down the stairs without saying a thing. I only woke up accidentally, in time to hear what was going on but not in time to shut down my computer, and then the hard drive started making those horrible clicking noises and I turned it off and can't get it back on again.

Hi, here via network. What you want is a hard drive enclosure, then you can do the data recovery yourself. They run about $30. I recently had this happen to me- it's annoying, but doable. There are instructions around the internet.
