WOOOOO SPRING BREAK
okay guys! i'm gonna be in NYC--for real this time--from 4/8 to 4/18(those are the travel dates, but I've arranged to have time for dinner the day I get there and something in the morning the day I leave). Three days are reserved for family, although I don't know which ones yet. Since we have the apartment now, I can host someone as well as visit you--I know we have a couch, but I haven't been there yet so idk what the extra linens situation is like; I will update once I get there.
SO. people who should reply to this post:
1. people who want to hang out in the city
2. people who want to spend the night and maybe do something more involved like a train ride to somewhere interesting?
3. also people who want to spend the night and then hang out in the city, but moreso
4. people who want to come shopping with me at the greenmarket and then to my apartment to cook awesome food!
5. people who want to come to dinner and eat the awesome food
6. people within a 3-hour train ride who would like a visit
7. people with suggestions for stuff to do!
re the last: I've been to NYC a lot so I know most of the major spots. what I'm looking for is anything new/significantly changed in the last 5 years, ESPECIALLY outdoor spaces, and exhibitions/shows/etc. I'm especially looking for live music recommendations--venues and particular performances, for $15 or less. also, restaurants/food-related attractions, both new and old, that are delicious and cheap. i love all kinds of music and art and theater, and almost all kinds of food--the only popular cuisine I don't like is Thai food. also, general tips for saving money would be fabulous--like, idk, what days to go to museums, other things that totally don't occur to me right now. *g*
oh also, if you know where there are less-usurious internet cafes, that would be awesome, as I am as yet without a laptop and i'd like to check in every couple days. my favorite is down in soho and while i adore the neighborhood, it's a bit of a trip to get there just for internet, and then i end up spending SO MUCH money on food. /o\ The apartment is on the upper west side, near the top of central park, so that would be an A++++ location.
regarding the dinner plans: i would love, love, LOVE to have a little dinner party for a bunch of people, because i love cooking and hosting and basically it would be awesome. it is the kind of thing i want to have planned out before i leave, so i can arrange to fit people's schedules. so if you want to come, please let me know which nights from 4/9 to 4/17 (inclusive) are available for you. this post is public because everyone is invited to it! I WANT TO MEET YOU.
