to be posted: WHENEVER I GET MY CONNECTION BACK >:(

was upstairs at my dad's computing poking at the router, and got distracted by the giant book of STUFF TO DO AT THE AHA CONFERENCE, and oh my gooood you guys, this is why I wanted to go into academia ;_; SO MANY PANELS. HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS. I WANT TO GO TO ALL OF THEM.

right! and! just watched sarah jane adventures, as per my usual every-two-weeks habit, and OH SO SPLENDID. Like, okay, I have basically two notes here:

1. I LOVE RANI NOW YOU GUYS. I mean I was already fond of her because I like everyone, but she was just so--I feel like I really have a sense of who she is, now. And she had her first giant saving-the-world trauma, and she was brilliant in the past with all the fifties people, and she continues to have excellent chemistry with Clyde both in the acting sense and in the OMG SQUEE TINY LITTLE HET SHIP SAILING FREE sense.

2. I thought this a bit with the last story but for sure here--this show is getting just too awesome to handle itself. Like it's always been fabulous at making smart, fun, exciting stories that fit exactly in 50 minutes and split neatly in two, without any padding or excess melodrama or etc. But I think the only thing holding them back--the only thing keeping this episode from being 100% perfect--is just not enough TIME. The awkward exposition moments and the emotional leaps could have been (and I am quite sure WOULD have been) completely fixed if they'd had an extra, say, two minutes in the Ruined World and two minutes in the fifties. To give the apocalypse thing more impact and to avoid Rani's mum doing the Unlikely Exposition dump, and in the past so that Barbara (and--oh, what was her husband's name, I forget, but him too!) could have more of a chance to figure out what's going on in a more convincing way, and lean a bit less on ~Just Knowing~ (and more with the dad! just, to emphasize that. THIS SHOW IS SO AWESOME AT DADS) because honestly--those two issues were my only problems and they were both completely fixable with a liiiittle extra time. And then I bet we could have avoided the awkward sepia moments at the end because we'd have had more time to develop the emotions fully.

Which is not to say that what there was wasn't BRILLIANT because IT WAS, but there was a very rushed feeling especially toward the end of part 2.

In conclusion: This show is my FAVORITE EVER, Rani is officially promoted to full-fledged Mini-Companion status in my heart, and SJA episodes should be 27.5 minutes long(not including credits). ALSO i have a vid idea that is rather marvelous, although i think that about all my vid ideas when i first get them so time will tell. BUT I LOVE IT. And oh oh oh I am looking forward to the next story so much, I hope I can restrain myself from watching the halves as they come out. I really really enjoy it REALLY MORE when I watch both parts at once but--[SPOILERS]!!!! OMG NEEEEEEEEEED.
