A TIDE THAT IS YULE
yuletide assignments are out! and...hoooooly shit. remind me that this is ENTIRELY MY OWN FAULT?
let the exhilarated panic commence! :D
for whoever got me: i left kind of insanely long prompts this year, and a lot of my preferences are pretty fandom-specific, so i really can't think of much more to add. all the suggestions are just suggestions; you don't have to use every character i requested; i'm pretty canon-flexible except for really really important things and i like stories set before/during/after canon events and i'm cool with ignoring sequels/extra-canon material you don't like; i love slash(f and m) and het and gen equally...really, i think i covered most things. um.
by fandom requested:
1. FAKE
While it would be kind of awesome to read a story that made sense of Sanami Matoh's fantasyland New York City, I would not demand that of anyone. *g* Regular NYC geography is fine, or you can take the slightly surrealist approach the manga takes, so don't worry over it.
2. Futurama
I was really close to choosing "any" because I have SUCH LOVE for all the secondary and tertiary characters. So please feel free to involve them as much as you like, as long as one or more of my three requested characters is also central. --and you know, if you get an idea for a fabulous story that doesn't involve any of the three leads, and it totally grabs you? I will love that too. The thing with Futurama is that I love the UNIVERSE so much, the feeling, the setting, the whole network of relationships between all the characters. Also you don't have to take the movies into account if you don't want to, but you are also welcome to do so! I like them fine but it's not a big deal.
3. My Teacher is an Alien
These books started my lifelong love of science fiction, so if you wanted to write a story with a sci-fi angle that would be awesome. But I'd love friendship or ship fic too. And, uh, just to reiterate, please make them at least fifteen if there's any kind of romantic angle involved, and at least 17 if the story goes above PG. And no explicit sex regardless, because I...I'm not prepared for that. *g* Which is not to dissuade you from het/slash/threesome fic! Just, the moderately more wholesome kind.
4. A Place of Greater Safety
I think a lot of stuff in my request makes it sound more like French Revolution RPF than fic for this particular book, but: that is not what I mean! Just that the *feeling* of historical accuracy and immersion is one of my favorite things about the novel, and I will love anything you write if you can maintain that feeling. But I would like a story about Camille as Mantel wrote him, possibly informed by more historical details but basically that character.
I'm pretty sure I covered everything else possibly in my excessively long request notes. Also if you got assigned to me because of 1, 2 or 4 and are stuck for ideas, 3 is a teeny tiny kids' book series that you can zip through in a few hours and possibly get inspired. :D (And actually FAKE doesn't take that long to read either--it's manga in that standard mini-paperback size and should be at regular bookstores.)
