(no subject)

so, I have possibly mentioned to some of you, or possibly not, that I'm working on a Project wherein I read everything I can get my hands on about religion and spirituality, then pull out all the bits that resonate with me and collate them in the world's largest three-ring binder. I've been doing this on and off for several months, and one major part of it is reapproaching my Tarot cards and relearning to work with them. I realize many or possibly most of you think this is total nonsense and gibberish, and I honestly don't know why I DON'T, but it's just--something that's really pulling at me right now.

so, uh, if any of you have any experience with Tarot or know people who do (and, um, I would prefer a less ~fluffy~ approach if at all possible) then I would really love to hear your thoughts on beginning with it, developing relationships with cards, different spreads, meditations, etc.

(The other major elements of my Spiritual Quest are: Greek mythology and ritual, the Old Testament and in particular Psalms and compiling my own haggadah, lots and lots and lots of Christian poetry from about the advent of Middle English to 1800 or so, many different approaches to meditation, rereading Gilgamesh a whole lot, Aztec mythology and practice--okay, this really isn't narrowing it down at all, is it.)

You are all totally allowed to make fun of me in your heads, because I feel COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS, but I am partitioning that part of my brain away so the rest of me can be embarrassingly earnest.

EDIT: also if anyone knows of a Tarot deck based on Greek mythology, in a SERIOUS way--like, by a classics phd who knows their shit, and also understands the symbolism behind the Rider Waite rather than just the pictures--I would basically kill puppies to get my hands on that. :D? :D? :D?

EDIT 2: okay, what i'm REALLY holding out for is a Jewish-themed, RW-inspired deck that's NOT based on fucking Kabbalah but made by/for actual Jews involving shit we actually believe in. But that doesn't seem to exist even on the internet! SIGH.

EDIT 3: oh! oh, or--a Dave McKean deck. HOW AWESOME YET TERRIFYING WOULD THAT BE. I don't know if i could ever bring myself to read it, but i would certainly stare at it lovingly!
