holy shit the weather DDDDDD: not here, i mean, but ACK. um, I know Houston isn't entirely out of the possible danger area--though it will be manageable by the time it hits here if it does, since we're an hour inland and it's *probably* not coming to us directly from the water--and evacuating westward is basically a dumb thing to do at this point(although...less traffic?), but if anyone has nowhere north and/or east to go and wants to get out now(ie, in time to...reach Houston *g*), I absolutely have beds for you. or your friend or your friend's friend. or basically anyone. just let me know a couple hours before you/they arrive. this also holds if anybody stays and then has to leave due to property damage--my dad's leaving town on tuesday, so for the next 2 weeks we can put up four people if you have nowhere to stay. --and we can host animals too, although cats will have to stay confined to a bedroom and dogs will have to stay outside(but under shelter from rain). smaller mammals are welcome but I can't vouch for their safety outside a cage because my cats are psychotic.
(communication--since this is open to everyone and not flocked, i'm not gonna post my phone #, but you can email me (it's lcsbanana at gmail) for it, or have a friend do so and they can call you. or so forth.)
--and oh holy fuck the situation in NO sounds like a total utter clusterfuck beyond anything I would DARE in satire. apparently they are regarding Katrina as mainly an image problem that will be solved if you just keep all the dead people sufficiently scattered and off the streets, to prevent photo ops. AWESOME SOLUTION, GUYS.
and christ, the fact that we are not sending the entire National Guard and Coast Guard from a 1000-mile radius to circle the storm area and head in the second it passes--and that no one is SUGGESTING THIS because god FORBID we allow the federal government to actually, you know, GOVERN FEDERALLY--is making me literally nauseated. WHAT IS WRONG WITH EVERYONE.
