So I went to the bookstore today, having exhausted my meager two books, and I picked up this AMAZING THING. The stories I've read so far are pretty crap but at least A Study in Emerald will be good, and the whole book is good for a laugh really. SHERLOCK HOLMES VS. CTHULHU.
Speaking of whom(the former not the latter), I have found the most ridiculous series of 'essays' wherein some fan attempts to prove via HARD CANON FACTS that Holmes and Watson are doing it. Which, 1.) takes all the fun out of it, 2.) is ridiculous, and 3.) IS RIDICULOUS. Apparently when a Victorian dude played music for his dude friend it meant SODOMY WAS IN THE AIR and not that, you know, that was THE ONLY WAY Victorian people experienced music AT ALL most of the time. Oh my god, her ignorance about Victorian everything PAINS me, I had to stop reading despite the enormous lols because I was having history rage. Honestly, the stories just are not that gay. I mean, they're totally open to gay readings, but there are many, many slashier things available if you insist on having canon prop you up every step of the way. Personally I think it is much more fun to just go off and do your own thing and not feel like you have to justify it with bullshit about what Victorians did or did not call their BFFs. (HELPFUL HINT, dudes used endearments on each other ALL THE TIME yet most of them were not getting it on. AMAZING.)
(Also, a dude reading aloud to another dude is not gay EVEN TODAY. COME ON.)

idk, the whole cottage industry of sherlock holmes analysis annoys me because it's so...ridiculous, trying to patch up the holes and contradictions when it is PERFECTLY OBVIOUS that, you know, doyle just didn't give a fuck. Why not just take that and run with it instead of proposing ridiculous un-fun theories?
Which is not to say I am not in favor of the gay, because I have read like fifteen sex scenes in the last 48 hours between these guys. I'M JUST SAYING.
