the great superhero fanfic dilemma

What do they call each other?

Obviously this is made much less complicated by the fact that nobody in the Avengers has a secret identity, and some of them don't even seem to have superhero names. But I'm still stuck in this place where I'm writing this story set about six months after the formation of the team, and it seems weird for them to use first names out in the field, while working--but equally weird for them to still be thinking of each other with last names. And weirdest of all for me to have the POV character using one name in his thoughts and another in his dialogue.

IDK, I should probably go with last names for both narrative and dialogue, at least until people start making out. Part of the problem is that I think different characters would take different approaches, based not least on whether they come from that kind of military/paramilitary milieu where calling someone just their last name doesn't necessarily preclude any kind of relationship except the most formal and impersonal. So I guess Steve POV means last names, and possibly titles. But it feels weird.
