BOOK REC BOOK REC BOOK REC
Oct. 14th, 2020 06:14 pmso yesterday evening i finished The Hanged Man, the second book in The Tarot Sequence by K.D. Edwards, which currently has two books and will eventually have nine. and i went....slightly over the edge with how much i LOVED that book, how much i love both the books, how desperately i want the rest of the series. i am still slightly over the edge! because i still love this series! and i want everyone to join me in reading it!!! it's queer urban fantasy, they're the perfect blend of a book that is primarily plot and character-based but has a strong and well-integrated romance subplot, the second book shows that the author heard and is addressing criticisms from book one (about diversity, which was its main flaw). and like, the first book was good, i really enjoyed it, but i didn't flip the fuck out until i finished book two and it launched me into space. so please, get these books, read them, join me in this fandom that currently has 59 works on AO3 and deserves at LEAST 500, just to start with...i really, really believe that this series is going to explode in fandom, i predict it's gonna happen after book 4--when the first sub-trilogy is done and the next mega-arc picks up. so get in on the ground floor with me because these books are so, so delicious and good and enjoyable and i LOVE them a LOT and want people to talk to about it.
basically, if you are in ANY way a typical fan-person in terms of the characters and plots that attract you--traumatic backstories and dealing with trauma, psychic bonds, loyalty, potential OT3s, intense queer relationships, character growth, and of COURSE found family--there's going to be at least some catnip for you here. it's practically designed for fandom, not in an annoying pandering way but in a way where it's just the most delicious richest food for the id, but like, in a way that actually holds up to being read with your non-id mind. and there are going to be NINE of them.
i am happy to provide content notes (there are two major elements that you might want a warning for) and also, once you read them, a link to the free novella set between books 1 and 2, because the author is just lovely.
