oh my god, this crappy ~erotic romance~ ebook is about tinhats. I will share more details when I'm not posting from the phone, possibly, but...clothing choices are being overanalyzed on message boards and the band's frontman is in love with his manager. This is precious.

It's this book, but a chapter later, I fear I overstated things. :( I mean, the band guys are still in love, but the tinhattery stopped being such a plot point. It was a really big deal for a couple pages, and IDK, it may get picked back up again! We'll see. When I finish the book I will post a compilation of moments and all may marvel. Also I really need to make a post about my experiences trying to find semi-decent threesome romances and how few of them hit the spot for me the way even bad m/f/m fanfic does. (The one that's really worked for me so far is the one written by an author I know for a fact is or at least was in fandom.)

Do you mean Cat Grant? She's re-issuing The Courtland Chronicles, and she's also got a 3some standalone, Entangled Trio.

Yes, tell us more about your Adventures in Reading!

No, I haven't read anything by her yet! I should check out Entangled Trio; the summary seems about an even mix of stuff I like and stuff that puts me off, which for $5.78 isn't bad. TBH I'd guess a lot of M/M writers come from fandom, although mostly not the parts I'm in, to judge by the cliches they prefer vs. the ones I like. But a lot of M/F/M seems to be written by authors who otherwise just write M/F, and...you can really tell. Which is another reason I should check out Cat Grant, I guess. And write my own books, because every time I finish one of these I get an idea that would be better, and I should really start writing them.

This is the book I really liked--well, "really"; it has plenty of flaws, but I feel like it was worth the price and would be even if it were a few dollars more. Actually I'm going to sign up for Yuletide next year so I can request fic for it. I even wrote a review, because I really really want other people to read it and then write me fic or just squee with me about the characters. Well, some of the characters. The author's other stuff has been hit and miss for me, nothing as good as this one, but consistently better than the other authors I've tried just in terms of "vaguely competent at writing in any way."

... that's a pity.

I really shouldn't try to write such a book, should I? I mean, I DON'T HAVE TIME.
